Mitt Romney buys ad on rightwing web site

Sat Feb 10, 2007 at 11:27:39 AM PDT

W. Mitt Romney has been buying ad space on rightwing blogs, including GOPBloggers.org --- an unofficial pro-Republic Party blog which makes racist and sexist comments about Democratic Party candidiates.

Romney's campaign has been buying ad space on at least one extremist right wing blog... GOPBloggers.org ... and evidently on others.  The GOPBloggers.org blog's chief writer, Matt Margolis recently posted racist comments about Barack Obama.  He responded to a news story about Obama's upcoming (February 11th) 60 Minutes appearance by sneering:

"This is Obama trying to inoculate himself from any criticism. The so-called 'racial debate' nonsense is just a little preview of what's to come. As long as Obama keeps his race an issue, then he can use it as a shield from criticism.  Be prepared. As long as Obama is running, his race will be made an issue. Not by his opponents, but by himself."

Margolis's blog also has a strict rule of referring to female politicians by their first names and not by their last name.  This may be defenseable in Sen. Clinton's case, since Hillary's husband is a former President.  But Speaker Pelosi is the only politically prominent person named Pelosi (aside perhaps from her daughter Alexandra, who is a journalist) and is one of several political figures named Nancy.

I could point out the numerous comments here on the Daily Kos that launch personal attacks against the GOP, while racism is the most basic form of ignorance that I despise.

I do believe that trying to portray Mr. Romney as racist by proxy should be called upon.

Again I point to the numerous times people here refer to the President and Vice President by their first names.

Currently in the Army DEP program, will be sent to Ft. Benning come July.

Romney's ad placement folks won't see this as hurting him; he's trying to not be crushed in the Republican primaries.  Appealing to the wingnut crowd is a requirement, no?

    •  It isn't news, but... (0+ / 0-)

it seems relevant in light of the Edwards/blogger debacle.  Is Romney endorsing their crap?

  •  Personally, I'd Love to See Romney Get Nominated (0+ / 0-)

Imagine how much fun we could have going to his rallies with flip flops! Is it something in the air in Massachusetts that makes politicians change their stances on the issues so constantly?

In all seriousness, Romney represents the worst sort of Republican politician. His ideas have been "evolving" in exactly the wrong direction. If he used to believe women should have say over their own bodies and that gay people deserve the same rights as everyone else, why has he suddenly decided women and gays don't matter any more? Answer: he doesn't really have any core values except for what's best for Mitt Romney.

And on one of his two blog he complained that "Kossacks" conspired to crash his other blog! I wwas left out of this conspiracy, however.
