Obama Camp Takes Lincoln Bedroom Shot

The Obama camp has responded to Howard Wolfson's demands. From spokesperson Robert Gibbs: "We aren’t going to get in the middle of a disagreement between the Clintons and someone who was once one of their biggest supporters. It is ironic that the Clintons had no problem with David Geffen when was raising them $18 million and sleeping at their invitation in the Lincoln bedroom. It is also ironic that Senator Clinton lavished praise on Monday and is fully willing to accept today the support of South Carolina State Sen. Robert Ford, who said if Barack Obama were to win the nomination, he would drag down the rest of the Democratic Party because ’he's black.’"

Okay Hillary supporters, are you once again going to deny to me that the incident with Robert Ford did not happen?  This is the place to do it.

  •  Good for Obama for standing up to the (4+ / 0-)

    playground bully.

You've got a real fight on your hands, Senator Clinton.

You just helped me make my decision.

I kind of wonder why you're running on a Democratic ticket when you are not a real Democrat.

... who stand up for their supporters. Hillary tried to go after Obama using Geffen as a proxy. She probably did it as much out of pique at her former supporter than as a good campaign strategy. But Obama refused to back away from Geffen in any way. That reflects well on him.

We saw the same thing with Wesley Clark last time. Michael Moore said something some people found controversial (that Bush was AWOL during his stint in the Texas Air Guard) and there was a great rush to get Clark to disavow Moore. He refused to do it, saying Moore had a right to his opinion.

Compare these two men to John Edwards, who while he didn't fire his bloggers, still said he found what they wrote offensive.

    It goes to character.

Get out of the dark with Clark!

  •  Hillary SUCKS.... (0+ / 0-)

...her camp's nazi-esque tactics of crushing dissent speaks volumes of how the tone of this election is going to be. I thought David Geffen has THE RIGHT TO EXPRESS HIS OPINIONS!!! HRC seems to think that because his $$$ didn't go to her she can try to "slime" him by accusing his pointed criticism as personal attacks. BOOO FEAKING WHOOO!!!

    ....paging Ralph Nader......

And if you're going to attack Clinton for campaign sniping, Obama and Edwards deserve equal scorn.

aren't disavowing the Democratic Party, while it certainly seems Hillmentum IS.

        •  About a month ago, John Edwards tore into Senate (0+ / 0-)

and House Democrats for being weak and cowardly (not the exact words). Beyond being hypocritical, it was a pretty broad based attack againt the entire party. It didn't get much play here, though I and a few others thought he stepped a little over the line. For the record, I didn't like what Clinton said a couple of days ago (though I'm not convinced she meant other Dems).

...the be true to itself and NOT become an echo of the Republican Party. Now is not the time for timid leadership in Congress. Criticism used to be okay, but now is seems any dissent is crushed and equated as some kind of betrayal.

      •  Not really... (0+ / 0-)

...what has Edwards and Obama done specifically????
I am a staunch critic of HRC. She is the annointed candidate of the corporatist/DLC/inside-the Beltway crowd, the wing of the party that I oppose. I have a right to express my opinion. I am making a joke about wanting Ralph Nader to run because I want the Democratic Party to move away from the Republican-lite crowd. I WILL PUT MY DEMOCRATIC PARTY CREDENTIALS UP AGAINST ANYBODY.
