Okay, I took a hint from Digby.

I sent a letter to the Argus Leader in Souix Falls, South Dakota. I really wanted them to think about what it is they've signed into existence with all the damned hype they've surrounded it with.
I just pray that I haven't opened up the Pandora's box again.
Letter below:
I'd like to congratulate the people of South Dakota for putting through this anti-abortion bill. You have made it absolutely clear that it is not only immoral, it is illegal to allow any woman to have an abortion.
My only question is, just how long are you going to keep the woman who does get an abortion in jail?
Since the proponents of this bill have been saying that to have an abortion is to literally murder a fully unique child from conception forward, are we to assume that full capital punishment will be carried out?
And if the doctor does an abortion willingly, is he (or she) too going to be held in prison for the rest of his (or her) life. Does South Dakota have a death penalty? I don't remember from living there.
After all, if you're going to talk about how important a fetus's life is, so important that you're even willing to allow a rapist, no matter that he goes to jail, a child to carry on his genes, then what punishment fits this lofty crime?
Surely it should be the absolute highest penalty.
Shouldn't it?
