UPDATED: Gore gets Oscar, makes mock formal announcement

Gore just went on stage at the Oscar ceremony with Leonardo DiCaprio and  starts a (fake) formal announcement. Leo asks him repeatedly, whether he he really really doesnt want to make a major announcement. Gore finally gives in, takes out his prepared remarks but gets cut off by the official (you went on too long music).

Of course it was just a joke, but Gore came across as genuine and humorous. And when Leo said that he is thankful for standing with Gore, a "true and inspirational leader" Gore looks as if he is really moved by his words.

Perfect show.

I really hope An inconvenient truth gets an Oscar so we can see Gore get on stage a second time.

UPDATE: And he actually gets the Oscar :-) The real winner is the director, but he kind of yields the stage to Al. Its almost a Jesus like cult, so much adoration for him. He looks almost embarrassed to hear so many flattering things about himself.

  Just wondering.

  Al Gore has earned the respect of a lot of people in that room, not just as a political figure, but as a visionary who has been fighting for the planet for decades.

  I think he is uncomfortable when it seems the personal adulation for him distracts from the message of climate change he is working to project.
