The Salt Lake Tribune has an article about how Karl Rove dodged the draft, just like, Bush, Cheney, and Limbaugh:

Here is my theory about why Bush, Cheney, Limabugh, and Rove, et. al. (the chickenhawks)were so scared about serving in Vietnam and so gung-ho about Iraq. The fact that they haven't seen human suffering on a horrific level, like Kerry has, has desensitized them to the kind of suffering that happens in war.
As a result of the chickenhawks calluosness, they think that the war in Iraq is just a game which they evaluate in terms of winning and losing. It doesn't occur to them that the Iraqi people killed are real people; they think they are just statistics in briefing papers.
Returning to Rove, he is the same way as the people who planned the war. He sees the opponets of his candidates not as people, but as obstacles and enemies. He doesn't see politics as affecting human lives, such as in Medicare, for instance. He sees this race, like all political races, as a game to be won and lost.
What this means for our side is that we need to portray Kerry as a compassionate person whose awareness of human suffering has made him into the person he is today. We need to show his human side and contrast it to the callousness of Bush. We should show how Kerry took his awareness of human suffering and turned it into a desire to make the world better:
- He launched a career as an effective prosecutor;
- As senator, he led the fight to balance the budget, allowing the economy to prosper;
- With John McCain, he helped the US normalize relations with Vietnam and brought a lot of closure to people impacted by the Vietnam War;
- He exposed the Iran-Contra affair;
- He brought down Bin Laden financer BCCI against the advice of people in his own party;
- He once stopped the campaign train to speak with 15 people who were lining the railroad track in NM.
We should use number 6 to show that Kerry places a high value on individual lives as opposed to Bush, who doesn't. Kerry is willing to take on hecklers, while Bush is so scared to that he requires loyalty oaths for people attending his rallies.
After talking about Kerry's traits, we should talk about Bush's shortcomings. They are too many and too numerous to mention here, but we should compare and contrast them with Kerry's strengths.
