  Someone wrote something earlier. I didn't like it. It said things I disagreed with, vehemently. I explained my disagreements in a manner allowing the original writer to respond. When I did not get what I felt to be an appropriate response, I filed that in my memory and left. I may need to avoid those writings in the future. It may or may not be a reflection on either person involved in the exchange. I'll never really know.

      I have diaried on it before, and others are doing so even now.

      The urge toward factionalism here puzzles me, I must admit. I like and admire people on all imagined "sides" of these flare-ups.

      Regardless of one's feelings on issues, it serves no purpose to escalate personal conflict by demonstrations of contempt. What is the motivation from anyone to cyber-shout? It is as if the joy and sport of conflict becomes the motivation, not the content of the original posts and diaries.

      I keep coming across these things in hidden comments, and it seems to me that all involved have much better things to do here on this site than say the things I have read flung about. It doesn't matter who is saying what to whom.

      And that's as close as I will come to diarying on this right now. My conflict resolution diaries will come along from time to time, and they will slide along down the list as usual. It won't stop me from speaking out when I see needless conflict escalations.

  cause  i would really like to know. i am editing for Diary Rescue today, and if some ranger submits a diary that markos has indicated does not constitute a "diary" because it really is too short and should be posted as a comment in some open thread or in a diary on the subject, is that rule now gone because bob johnson created a new rule that is now followed by some other diarist? This diary even violates Elise's new exemption for the rules that it's ok to violate if not during 9-5.

          The comments and who recced what in last night's diary and this diary seem to show pretty strong approval for comments to be posted as "diaries" at least when it is snark of a diary in which some disagree about the substantive content  and it is posted late at night or early in the morning. Sad to say, but i think if opol had posted a snark "diary" that really was a comment, then there would be several TUs screaming for the "diary" to be deleted.
