I think we can officially proclaim that every February 5th from here on will be Meta Day!
Every couple of months something flammable ignites and we have a flame war. Currently we are having a flame war about One Pissed Off Liberal, ad hominems, 9/11 conspiracy theorists, and the "diary police"--all mixing together for an especially toxic stew.
Sometimes I think flame wars are really a waste of time, other times I think they need to burn out and let everyone have a say to get it out of their system. Daily Kos is famous for these things, and probably wouldn't be the same without the occasional meta war.
So to turn things into a more lighthearted direction and possibly try to dissipate this situation, I'm posting this diary to ask you what your favorite flame war or incident of all time was or your least favorite one, and for whatever reason.
Personally, my favorite flame war was the Dog Vomit Incident of last year--though not technically a flame war, it caused an uproar for a day. At some point a user who went by Andydoubtless posted a diary entitled "Like the dog returning to its vomit...Democrats and ethics reform?" which began to repost itself over and over again swallowing up the entire diary list for a good while and no one knew at first if he/she was a hacker or if it was an error. Turns out ultimately it was an error and the user was not at fault, however it provided for a very memorable moment at Daily Kos!
