He's a nasty campaigner.
I don't like Kerry much, but I have to admit grudging respect for Kerry's campaigning. He may not have any idealogical balls, but he sure does have campaigning balls; he's a nasty, tough fighter. I do have confidence that he would fight Bush to the death. He might not do much once he's in the WH, but he would not roll over on the way in. And since he will say pretty much anything he needs to to get elected, he will probably snow the American people enough to make them feel good about voting for him. I have to give him that.
What I wonder though, is what makes Kerry fight? Clearly, getting himself elected, and protecting the environment, are issues he will fight for. But not many others. Why is that? Who knows, maybe the presidency would make him great in the end. He might rise to the occasion, when he would be required to lead the fight on so many fronts. It's possible.
I'm not conceding anything here, because I want Dean, and I would prefer Edwards or Clark over Kerry, but I have to acknowledge what I'm seeing.
My cold comfort if Kerry wins the nomination is that he will fight Bush to the death, because his own election is at stake.
