Fox News 2nd Most Important Story Of the Day

    The channel that we rely on for unfair and unbalanced news reporting saw fit to report in the second spot on it's online site a reprint of an editorial column published in the Las Vegas Review Journal that criticized Nevada Democrats for pulling out of a "debate" that was to have been co-sponsored by Fox News. Evidently this "rebuke" to Democrats was deemed more important than the demonstrations being staged against Bush in South America. http://www.foxnews.com/...

    Yes, you, my friends, are part of the "socialist web-addicted wing of the Democratic party" who sabotaged the debate, Fox is happy to report. I'm not sure how we accomplished that but I can't say that I am unhappy about the outcome. The right-wing nutcase propaganda organs are having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that it is folks like us who were likely responsible for Senators Webb, Tester and McCaskill being in the Senate today.
    Fox goes on to argue that if the republicans were to follow the example of the Nevada democrats, they would not participate in debates sponsored by PBS, among others. They seem to ignore the fact that reporters like Jim Lehrer are respected enough by both parties to be chosen to moderate debates. Who was Fox planning on using? Billo, maybe?
    Let's stay part of the socialist web-addicted wing of our party long enough to ensure that we finish the job in 2008 that we started in 2006: Returning America to the world's greatest hope, rather than its greatest fear.

  This is how the LVRJ operates.  Very conservative editiorials (they endorsed Bush in 2004 for instance).  There is no other paper in Las Vegas.  The other paper, the conservative-Dem leaning Las Vegas Sun, is now a small insert inside of the LVRJ.  Weep for us.  Don't be surprised if you see a lot of shitty editiorials coming out of the LV press during the NV caucus.

    Saturday's editorial, "Meltdown over Fox", ignores both history and reality.  

    The last time the Fox News Channel presented a Democratic debate, on September 9, 2003, Fox News graphics, as well as a banner over the stage, titled the event as the "Democrat Candidate Presidential Debate," a misconstruction of "Democrat" used since the days of Joe McCarthy as an an epithet.  Fox News then summarized the debate with a story titled, "Democratic Candidates Offer Grim View of America," continuing with such jabs as, "The depiction of the president as the root of all evil began at the top of Tuesday night's debate."  

    The reality is that debate participants would have no control of nor opportunity for real-time knowledge of the contents of the chirons overlaying and the crawls framing their images.  The reality is that Fox News is not a legitimate news organization, it is a reliable and dedicated  propoganda arm of the Republican National Committee and the Bush administration, and its partisan producers and on-air talent can not be trusted to deal fairly with anyone who dares to contend against the Republican Party's policy positions.

    Tom Collins was a fool ever to associate with Fox News in any way, and it is a good thing that his (at best) careless decision was overridden by more responsible members of the Nevada Democratic Party leadership once they found out about the debate arrangements Collins had made without consulting them.

    I can't help thinking that roger ailes didn't like it much. He's gone out of his way to avoid describing fox as a "conservative" or "right-leaning" network, even going to the extreme of roaring it out!

    now here, his own network website links to an editorial describing fox as "right-tilting network co-sponsor" or "the conservative favorite" or "their rivals' messenger". Seems like he'd not care for that kind of language describing his precious "fair and balanced" channel that's supposed to attract Democrats and Independents as well as the hard core freepers. Can it be that they're finally admitting to the rest of the country that they are, indeed, the mouthpiece of the publican party?

  Hell, it must be at least a third of Billo (and he airs three times a day). And the navel-gazing continually works into all manner of "straight" news and other commentary-style programming.

  I would bet you right now that you could easily get to 15-20 percent of total programming time.
