I showed up at the Wisconsin Democratic Party Convention in Oshkosh rather late yesterday. Paid $20 guest fee. The folks doing registrations had run out of laminated Guest Passes, so they gave me a handwritten job.
Hours later, Dane County Supervisor Rob Fryst, a candidate for State Treasurer, approaches me in the convention hall, asks to see my pass. (he was wearing a Seargant at Arms badge.) I explained the problem at the registration desk. "If you dont have 'one of these,' you'll have to leave. "Rob don't be silly." "If you don't leave now, I'm calling the Oshkosh Police and you're going to jail."
I try to head back to the registration area, where by now they're counting the votes for Party chair. I'm denied admission, told there is no more registration. Return to the Hall. Fryst again accosts me, I relay what I'm told at the Registration room. He's again "You'll have to leave. Shouts to another "Seargant at Arms" "Call the police!"
Outgoing Vice Chair Tim Sullivan spots the ruckus, asks me outside the Chamber while he dispatches somebody to the Registration room. She returns a few minutes later to report that the payment records have already left for Milwaukee. Sullivan invites me back inside.
Rob Fryst, you're a pompous selfimportant jerk, unfit for Public Office. Anybody else wanna be State Treasurer? decent Pay, great Benefits.
