We need to make sure the media covers this event. You can bet they'll bury
it on the back pages or ignore it altogether unless we can get it onto the
front pages and the 6:00 news somehow.

Renegade reporter John Buchanan of Miami Beach launches his campaign head-on
against President in the New Hampshire Republican primary with a bang - a
claim of "irrefutable facts"
MANCHESTER, N.H. - The veteran journalist who made history last October when
he published in The New Hampshire Gazette documentary proof that the
grandfather and great-grandfather of President George W. Bush were Nazi traitors to
their country will officially launch his campaign against Bush in the
Presidential primaries with an appearance on Monday, January 5 at the New Hampshire
Political Action Association's Presidential Candidates Forum, the oldest such event
in the state's long history of explosive, confrontational politics.
He will make "a major speech" and answer questions in a one-hour session
with the media and interested observers from across the political and demographic
spectrums.
On Tuesday, January 6, Buchanan will appear at a similar event in Concord,
sponsored by New Hampshire Political Library. The following day, he will appear
at the College Convention, which draws students, political activists and
journalists from all over the world. Buchanan will end his first week of aggressive
campaigning with an appearance Saturday, January 10, at the New Hampshire
independent voters forum in Bedford and a Town Hall Meeting in Concord on Sunday
evening, January 11.
Buchanan is basing his campaign on three key issues and a legendary piece of
US history - the 1968 Presidency-ending upset of Lyndon Johnson in the New
Hampshire primary by Senator Eugene McCarthy.
"My three issues," says Buchanan, a 53-year-old native of Virginia, "are the
unanswered and troubling questions about 9/11 and ongoing attempts by the
Bush administration to obstruct any investigation of what happened and who is
accountable; the campaign of lies and deceit that led to the Iraq war, which is
nothing but a war profiteering scam, and Bush's violation of major campaign
promises and core Republican values, from `no nation-building' to the biggest
deficit in history."
Buchanan notes that another journalist named Buchanan - Pat Buchanan, who
"upset" Bush's father in the 1992 New Hampshire primary and effectively ended
his Presidency as a result - has stated in a recent essay in The Atlantic
Monthly that Bush is "vulnerable" to an assault from his right, on issues
including the "quagmire" in Iraq, the deficits, the failure to protect our borders
from illegal immigration, the massive "export" of American jobs, and
preferential treatment for the wealthy corporate elite.
"My candidacy is a referendum on two simple questions," Buchanan says.
"First, do truth and honor still matter in this country - and in the White House?
If they do, George Bush should be replaced by another Republican - me. The
second question is who owns the government - we the people, or the big corporate
interests? Those are important questions that no other candidate, of either
party, has the courage to raise in the post-9/11 environment of The Patriot Act
and institutionalized fears and national paranoia."
Buchanan, who claims his work has never been retracted for inaccuracy in 33
years as a journalist, says that he hopes the result of his fact-based
"campaign" as "a working journalist" will be a bipartisan inquiry by the US Congress,
beginning with the House and Senate Judiciary Committees.
"The American people have to right to know, based on the facts and sworn
testimony, whether the President of the United States is a liar and war criminal,"
says Buchanan. "If he led us to war, costing nearly 500 American lives and
thousands of Iraqi deaths, or he was complicit in allowing the tragedy of 9/11
to happen, costing almost 3,000 lives, he is guilty of treason and should be
held accountable."
