I'm starting to believe, contrary to what our most esteemed national media wants to tell me, that capturing Saddam
didn't end the Iraq war!
Now, now, I don't want to be hasty. I mean, I've been told that the resistance consisted of "desperate" remnants of the Baathist regime. Now that their dear leader is in custody, I'm sure they will lay down their weapons, break out the flower petals, and belatedly shower them on our forces. Right?
Right?
Bomb kills two soldiers
A bomb was detonated as a U.S. patrol drove past just south of Baghdad Friday, killing two soldiers and wounding three, the U.S. Army said Saturday.
GI killed by mortar fireInsurgents firing mortar shells into an American base about 60 miles north of Baghdad killed one American soldier on Saturday and wounded two others, a United States military spokesman said. At the same time, an American offensive against the insurgents continued at high intensity across the country's Sunni Muslim heartland.
US helicopter shot down in IraqA small US Army helicopter has been shot down near the Iraqi town of Falluja, killing one soldier and injuring another, the US military says.
US General Mark Kimmitt said the coalition was "fairly convinced" the OH-58 Delta Kiowa Warrior helicopter was brought down "by enemy fire".
11 more soldiers were wounded over the last 24 hours, and two more were killed in accidents.
Now we're at 483 Americans killed in Bush's War, with the rapid approach to 500 (and beyond) continuing unabated. Saddam's capture notwithstanding.
