VT - Thoughts and Prayers for families - update

Tue Apr 17, 2007 at 07:50:57 AM PDT

I just need to get this out and maybe others feel the same way.  So here is another open thread about Va Tech and thoughts for the families in this time of tragedy.

Update 1 - Shooter was just confirmed to have graduated from Westfield, my daughters highschool.  Two of the victims were also Westfield grads. What a terrible day for Westfield.  Tragic.

Last night my daughter at college in No. Va. called to tell me the news.  one of her friends from high school was killed in the shootings at Va. Tech. She was beside herself.  All day she had been trying to contact all of her friends at Va Tech but the fateful call didn't come until late at night.

I couldn't sleep after that.  What a tragedy.  Something on a scale this big affects so many people.  We thought there was a chance that we would know someone, but when you can put a face to a name it just seems that much more real.  A funny, cute, sweet girl has lost her life, a life with so much potential, to something so heinous that it is hard to comprehend.

Another call just now.  She heard from another friend that one of his friends is in the hospital.  Terrible.  I feel so bad for the families.

It is hard to know what to say, but sometimes just having a community to share things with helps.

...to you, your daughter and her friend's family.

Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.

We keep hearing more bad news.  It looks like the shooter was from Centreville where their high school is!  If he was here for those years I think he would have gone to the same high school!  I guess we'll know soon.  My ex husband says there have been helicopters all over the area this morning.

to express the sorrow and horror of this though much will be said to try to comfort the families and friends. We try.  In the thoughts and prayers, expressed by this community and others, may they find comfort and peace. We cry and mourn with them.
May the Goddess guard them on their journey to the Summerland, May their family and friends know peace. May we all know peace. Blessed Be.

to you, your daugher, all the families of those who were lost and wounded.  I can only send my sympathy.

I am not resigned to the shutting qwqay of loving hearts in the ground.
So it is, and so it will be, for so it has been, time out of mind:
Into the darkness they go, the wise and the lovely.
    Crowned
Wtih lilies and with laurel they go; but I am not resigned.

no words are adequate. Consider yourself, your family, and everyone at VT gathered into my heart with a hug.

Thanks for posting everyone.  It was just confirmed on MSNBC that the shooter graduated from my daughters high school.  Two of the victims (so far) also graduated from there.  Out of all the schools in America, it had to be Westfield.
