or does anyone else think that we might have gotten very very lucky by the Michael Jackson "not guilty" verdict?
I mean taking a look around at the landscape, the media landscape that is, I don't see anything on the horizon, nothing at all to interest the media, no Michael Jackson prison sentence to talk about, no Lacy Peterson, no Martha Stewart, no Robert Blake, no campaigns, nope there is nothing out there whatsoever...
Except the Downing Street Minutes and Memos
Isn't this pretty good timing all around? Nothing for the media to do except start digging into the problems with Iraq and the fact that we have proof that we were lied to and oh yea, those ever sinking poll numbers.
Seems we have hearings scheduled soon, a letter with >500k signatures being delivered to Bush asking for his response and other activities surrounding the investigation into the corruption of this war and the manner in which we were lied into it.
No diversions, no other things to shine a spotlight on, nope, the only thing out there is Iraq and the President's High Crimes and Misdemeanors to focus on.
I say that "now is the summer of your discontent" We're coming after you Mr President, you cannot hide anymore, the media has no distractions to focus on and if you try to create any then we'll make it the focus. Sooner or later liars get cornered, and your time is now!
Folks, now is the time to turn up the heat, luck is defined as "when preparation meets opportunity", we are prepared, and the opportunity has presented itself, the media will not ignore us now because they have nothing else to report on.
The time is now!
So where do we all go now, how do we proceed?
I've been thinking that it is time to have a legal letter drawn up outlining the probable crimes committed by this president and his administration and physically mail a hardcopy via certified mail to each and every house representative for your particular state.
We need to make it very clear in this letter that our representatives have a constitutional mandate to investigate High Crimes and Misdemeanors by the president of the United States and failure to do so is a crime in and of itself and is first and foremost a failure in their duty as representatives of "we the people".
In short, I think its time we start probing into the legal issues surrounding the requirements of our representatives to investigate this on behalf of the people and identify any legal areas where they are vulnerable.
It is one thing to vote for this war after you were lied to, it is quite another to continue to be complacent to the lies after you have been made aware that you were lied to, at some point you become just as liable for the crimes as the main criminals if you refuse to investigate and prosecute.
We need to make this the next step in this issue, directly challenging whether or not our representatives are committing crimes by refusing to investigate whether or not this administration did.
Does anyone know that the legal precedents are for both US law and International Law?
Additionally,
I think its time that the Brits start bringing charges to those who were part of the meetings that have produced all of these leaked memos to.
It is clear that they knew that they were committing crimes and it is time to start bringing them to justice. Once it starts on one continent, the world media will be all over it and the dominoes will start to fall over here. To be clear, we have proof that the Brits knew they were committing crimes and went through with it anyway.
While we're not at that stage here yet, we know that the same type of documents exist on US soil, the only way to start getting them leaked is to start prosecuting members of Blair's Cabinet who went ahead and committed these crimes knowingly and to start pushing for legal investigation here also.
Mr President,
Now is the time for your summer of discontent
