Maybe I'm late in this, but if not this guy needs a verbal ass kicking.
Man Sues to Deny Financial Responsibility to His Baby
He says he doesn't expect to win, but wants to start a dialogue about what he perceives as unfairness in the legal rights of parents. Unfairness, say like, when one sex has to carry a baby, and the other gets to live without the pain of childbirth? When I first read Alito's dissent in "Casey," I was afraid someone would try to make this argument, because half of it is so appealing in its logic, but only in that it ignores the inherent injustices that exist in reality, and the need for the law to strike a balance back. What people, white, middle class men in particular need to realize, is that not all the simple fixes to apparent injustices are rarely that simple, and are rarely fixes.
Sure, men's interests are not really recognized when it comes to child support laws. Tough. Women's interests aren't really recognized - well, most of the time. He may just want to start a conversation about the fact that sometimes women MIGHT be less than truthful about their expectations of a boyfriend, but the reverse is true also, and neither facts are all that new. Using a lawsuit to do this is not only lame, but dangerous. What if it doesn't fail?
