I was just over at army.com, thinking about sending a wingnut friend's son some literature on the war; I was struck by the headlines over there.
"Soldiers in Mosul detain insurgents, rescue hostage, find caches Coalition forces detained 36 suspected terrorists in Mosul, Iraq this past week, rescued a hostage and found seven weapons caches."
No talk of dead soldiers, no talk of memos about torture, no headlines about Downing Street Memos. Just a real rah-rah attitude. We have no problems. We will not address any we may have. I know that pride has always been a huge part of the military, but these administration has used and abused our military. They have told lies, gotten us and our children all frightened, our kids have gone over there to "protect" us, and they are not even given minimal protective gear. And Bush is a great wartime C-I-C??? WTF?????
I know many of you will disagree, but I admire our military. Watching "Saving Private Ryan" I was amazed by the courage and conviction of those boys going over to Normandy on D-Day; they must have really believed they were doing a righteous thing to be willing to die for it so willingly.
Well, BushCheney have taken this brave spirit, this helpful soul, and turned it inside out. I am not in admiration of the small percentage of soldiers who are abusive to other human beings; I am, however, sympathetic and worried about the huge percentage of them who joioned after September 11th, and thought they were going to go after those who hurt America. They were played for fools, we the American people were played for fools, and Congress were played for fools.
Never again, BushCheney. BushCheney have hurt our military, they have brought dishonor and shame onto our military and all of us, and they are messing this war up, just like Bush has messed up every single thing he touched in his life.
We all need to start talking about the incompetence of this president and administration and the incompetence of this repub leadership. I am glad to see more and more politicians talking about leaving Iraq, and I have written them all a thank you for speaking out.
