David Poisson is running for delegate in the district that, essentially, encompasses Loudoun County, Virginia.
For those who are following this, David is running against Dick Black--an extreme rightwinger who is best known for passing out pink fetuses to his fellow legislators in Richmond.
Anyhow, the election is Tuesday of course. I just received a phone call from an organization, purporting to support David Poisson--but which mispronounced his name as "poison" -- just as Dick Black has done, repeatedly, at various debates and other functions.
Republican dirty tricks? I dunno. I questioned the caller, asked to speak to their supervisor, and upon talking to him, he purported to be calling from Utah, didn't know how his name was pronounced, and claimed that they were not affiliated with Dick Black's campaign.
I thought I'd throw this up here to see if anyone in VA / this district has had similar experiences.
This could be a telling race. Black has won re-election twice, but the county may be trending democratic---given that it is just outside of Fairfax County. WaPo had a story this week to that effect. If Poisson can knock off Black, it would be a nice victory for VA Dems -- and perhaps a telling one.
