Well, we've had another homage to purple fingers. Bush is, of course, playing this for all it's worth as a sign that we are spreading freedom and democracy in the Middle East. Of course, it still remains to be seen if the Iraqis can actually form a government, and whether the Sunnis and Kurds will accept a primarily Shiite-led government or whether this will devolve into civil war.
But let's assume for a moment that the Iraqis DO manage to pull it off, and the Sunnis and Kurds don't pull out and try to form their own separate nations
What will Bush do if this new democratically elected parliament votes to adopt a resolution calling for the immediate withdrawal of ALL non-Iraqi troops from Iraq? How will he justify keeping American military in a country which has specifically told him to get our troops the hell off their land? Since a alrge percentage of Iraqis don't want us there, this is a real possiblity.
