President Bush, trying to defend his war strategy, declassified intelligence Tuesday asserting that Osama bin Laden ordered a top lieutenant in early 2005 to form a terrorist cell that would conduct attacks outside Iraq — and that the United States should be the top target.

The information mirrored a classified bulletin from the Homeland Security Department in March 2005, reporting that bin Laden had enlisted Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, his senior operative in Iraq, to plan potential strikes in the U.S. The warning was described at the time as credible but not specific and did not prompt the administration to raise its national terror alert level.

So while we are fighting them THERE, and supposedly (according to the republican meme they are spreading) keeping them there, well they once again out-smarted the most idiotic administation in our history. One could say;

well DUH!

And of course nothing specific or actionable, but hey when has that ever stopped the BS flow from the White House? Another thing is we all know this is most likely as 'real' as the cartoons Colin showed the U.N., so one has to wonder why they are flogging this again. Just to keep the 30 percenters happy?

•  Blowback

  During the last Repub debate, the old guy from Texas made some really good points about blowback.  Our foreign policy over the last few decades has made "them" hate us, and want to fight us where ever.  But that doesn't fit with their simplistic view of the world.  The GOP is trying to get him banned from future debates.
