I don't know if it's just me or what, but it sure seems there is a plethora of issues to battle and attacks on democracy by the Repugnants.
Seriously, this is the year before a mid term election. Should there be this much action happening all at once? At the same time, is it possible to maintain the veracity that we are fighting these over reaching, power abusing fucks?
I'm somewhat concerned that they are throwing everything at us right now, trying to get as much shit by, by flooding us with everything. Is it possible that they are expecting to take a hit this year, and take it easy next year, so the crimes of this year are vague in the minds of Americans?
(More below the crease.)
Let's take a look at how the year started.
Right after the election, all of the sudden, Shrubya started pushing heavy for privatizing social security. You know, the issue that he campaigned on to get elected. Well, what happens during that time? The bankruptcy reform bill gets passed.
Now don't get me wrong. The efforts put forth to stifle Bush's scheme was amazing and needed. I'm certain Bush would have loved to push that plan through. But at the same time, damage elsewhere was done.
Then we start our battle against Mr. Mustachio, John Bolton. Now, any fair minded American sees why this guy isn't for the job. But, at the same time, another 100+billion dollars in tax cuts are approved for the mega wealthy and multi national corporations.
Then the Downing Street Minutes surface. We've finally got undisputed proof that Bush was manufacturing and adjusting intelligence to trump up reasons to invade Iraq, 9 months prior to the invasion. The media largely ignores this detrimental story. Even with the fervor of John Conyers, with 110+ congress people, and 560,000 signatures, the DSM falls through the main stream cracks.
Then boom, Treasongate hits the headlines. The MSM finally shows up and covers the story. Things are getting bad for the administration, and they even prematurely throw out a Supreme Court nomination, to draw attention away from Rove, Libby, and other conspirators. We're not distracted though, and we continue to go after Rove.
What happens though, CAFTA, which was widely believed to not pass in the house, passes in the house. Little mention of it at all, until it was too late. Yeah, Delay pulled his dirty tricks of holding voting open late and twisting arms and bribing, but it's not anything new. There's no drive to call congresspersons, no petitions or letter writing campaigns blazed across the front page at Daily Kos.
What I'm getting at is that, they are killing us by hitting us from all directions. I'd wager to say, that this site is probably one of the largest, informationaly mobile, and best organized groups in the country combating these thugs who have captured our government. Be that as it may, we are still losing a lot of battles, usually one's that we are distracted from fighting.
When we put our weight into it, we are a force to be reckoned with. I guess my question is what are we lacking that is allowing the thugs to sneak so much shit past us, without even a good fight?
I don't bring this up to rain on our parade, because I feel that the internet has been extremely important in winning the battles that we have won. I'm just not sure where we are lacking as a community and how to best resolve it.
