I heard this story on Dr. Wayne Dyer's recent PBS special- he is so amazing - he comes from such a place of love - a way more powerful place than that of hate-- often I hear similiar vitriolics here that one hears in other places- maybe we can try and bring change with love and respect instead of hate and disrespect.... This taken from an journal of Peace Pilgrim -who walked the land seeking - peace -! more below.... please read and recommend!
Food for thought in how we deal with "troubled" and "problem" members of society and to remind us the our human fate is a collective one not a solo journey - we affect and touch the lives of others every day - alot of times without knowing it maybe if we did this more thoughtfully the world would be a better place to live.
"In the Babemba tribe, when a person acts irresponsible or unjustly, he or she is placed in the center of the village, alone, unfettered. All work ceases. The entire village gathers around the accused individual. Then each person of every age begins to talk out loud to the accused. One at a time, each person tells ALL THE GOOD THINGS the one in the center ever did in his or her lifetime.
Every incident, every experience that can be recalled with any detail and accuracy, is recounted. All positive attributes, good deeds, strengths, and acts of kindness are recited carefully and at length. No one is permitted to fabricate, exaggerate or be facetious about the accomplishments or positive aspects of the accused person.
The tribal ceremony often lasts several days, not ceasing until everyone is drained of every positive comment that can be mustered. At the end, the tribal circle is broken, a joyous celebration takes place, and the person is symbolically welcomed back into the tribe. Necessity for such ceremonies is rare."

Maybe if instead of attacking people for having beliefs we do not share - we can approach them with love- and speak with respect instead of disdain- just a kindler gentler approach - just because others are angry does not mean we need to be - I am suggesting a shift in energy that we can bring to the world to make for truly progressive change - to replace one anger with another will not change the world. What Do you think?????
