Announcing John Thrasher - AZ CD2

Mon Jun 25, 2007 at 12:34:01 PM PDT

I am here to introduce to you a candidate running against U.S. Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ CD2)a member of the far right.  John is running for the 2nd time and has a good chance of coming out on top in '08. In '06 the incumbant spent $277,000 while John garnered 39% of the vote with only $30,000.
Please take a look at him on his actblue page and website.

And now for a few words from John.

Hi! I'm John Thrasher and have lived in Arizona since 1957. I am a retired college professor of 30 years and my wife of 27 years is currently a state legislator. My opponent does not represent the working families in Arizona and his voting record reflects nothing more than a 'rubber stamp' of this administration. My opponent strongly supports school vouchers, switched his vote to yes for the senior   health care plan pushed by Delay et al http://www.vote-smart.org/... and has voted against Veterans benefits, including $1500.00 in assistance for the returning National Guard members.

CD2 has lost federal funds already assigned to us by voting against transportation funding Franks calls 'pork' putting local funding in serious trouble.
Please consider supporting me at actblue or contact me at my website. I look forward to keeping you up to date.

  •  John, have you gotten any kind of interest (0+ / 0-)

from the DCCC. Any chance they are going to give you a better look this time around?

Also, where are you on the big issues domestically? In particular in regards to abortion, gay marriage and the Patriot Act?

I'm coresponding w/DCCC requesting to meet w/them concerning their support of me and the campaign. They have shown some interest.  We'll see.  As far as big issues: I'm pro-choice and would vote for a woman's right to choose, pro-civil unions, and I want  look into revising the Patriot Act due to the Katrina response and privacy issues.

  •  More info please (0+ / 0-)

What is the district's makeup? What was Bush's record there? Can Thrasher raise the money this time to beat an idealogue? What is his and his opponent's position on immigration, Iraq, and healthcare?

Does he support the legislation before Congress on immigration? Does he support an immediate withdrawal from Iraq? Does he support "single-payer" healthcare system?

    •  Can John win (0+ / 0-)

John has a good chance in 08.  The district is republican but all areas did vote for Napolitano.  I live in Mohave County and we have gotten a great respose here.  The biggest issue is Franks support for the war and his unfailing allegiance to Bush.

Learn what a radical Franks is and you will have all you need to get rid of him.

  •  Thrasher campaign (0+ / 0-)

John is doing a great job of calling attention to Trent Franks’ radical right wing agenda.  His wife has helped his campaign by showing that a democrat can win in their area.  Jackie has done a wonderful job as an Arizona congressperson.

I worked on John’s first campaign and doing all I can to get him elected this time.  He does need money as do all politicians.  Franks has a huge advantage being an incumbent but John is already off to a good start.  John can win so help him.
