Just Let Bill O'reilly Be Bill O'reilly

Mon Jul 16, 2007 at 09:28:40 PM PDT

You know how he is and how he conducts himself. You know that he creates fear to perpetuate the ignorance of those who are tuned in as loyal listeners/viewers. You know as well as he knows that he has crossed the line into incredulity long ago, and like Morey from Goodfellas, because of his endless blathering, nobody cares what the hell he says anyway.

He's found a niche in lowering himself. That is not your niche. Otherwise, you wouldn't have joined up here at Daily Kos. So, don't bother reviewing any of his past 'hateful' or whatever comments. Just let him be...

Just let him open his shoe sized mouth as much as he wants. Nobody, barring hard-core people you couldn't reach anyway, cares what he says anymore. Perhaps many tune in to 'hear what (ridiculous thing) he says next,' but practically no one (IMHO) is basing his or her lifestyle or ideological curiosity on him or his show(s.)

He is waning and he knows it. I wondered long ago how he could put his head to his pillow and sleep soundly on any given night; but frankly, I just don't care about him anymore. He is yesterday's problem and while he may not have been marginalized in the absolute sense, he and his network are well on their way as a direct result of their inability to keep masses entranced by fear and ignorance: a time tested failed way to do business throughout history.

Just let the man blather on whilst waving his finger about. Nobody cares outside of a base of people afflicted with an obsolete ideology. Let them care if they like, but please, don't give a worthless man the satisfaction of parity in retort. He is beneath you, so don't you crouch to him. After all, that's how he's been feeding his ego for so long.

Lastly, note that he 'forgot' to mention Markos' Military service. Funny how he dug into some uncited comments or diaries and missed a simple wiki on this forum's creator.

Just let him pass. That's what the volume knob is for.

Love,

Me.

...it's an effort to "Swift Boat" Daily Kos. It's not called the VRWC for nothing. I'm not suggesting they all get together in a room every morning or all read the same e-mail from Karl Rove to get their marching orders. But they do operate collectively, even if they do it individually. Malkin and Coulter and Limbaugh and Turner and a whole host of others of their ilk repeat the theme often enough and it becomes conventional wisdom.

Even though we leftists know this is no far-left site - moderate left might be a legit label - throughout the megamedia, it is a far-left site by repetition of that theme.

    •  You mean? (0+ / 0-)

every morning or all read the same e-mail from Karl Rove

Right Wing pundits and FOX News don't get complimentary RNC email accounts that get purged? Huh ... I would think they would. Kristol talks to Rove on a Red hotline phone though, that I know.

for people like O'Reilly and Coulter, et al. That's why Olbermann is so effective at pricking their balloons. Look at them, at what they say and do, and laugh at them. Laugh at them hard and often and publicly. Point the finger, give a rueful shake of the head and just laugh.

I repeat my former mantra: "A despot doesn't fear eloquent writers preaching freedom - he fears a drunken poet who may crack a joke that will take hold." - E. B. White

    •  I think that it's time to stop dignifying these (0+ / 0-)

people with any answer whatsoever. They have shown the world that they are not deserving of a place in any real discussion.

They are not relevant anymore and the only thing that keeps the ghost of their popularity lurching about is the reaction they get from their bogus 'reporting.'

      It's reverse marketing.

    He's a punchline in a necktie.

most of his viewers have never heard of DKos or Jet Blue and wouldn't know a blog from a frog.

Has anyone tracked down the posts that he used on the show to see if they were "plants", snarksters or just some of our "unique" posters?

  •  Bill-O sucks and is stupid and a bully. But (0+ / 0-)

he has an audience.  Lots of people may not know a blog from a frog.  But they may go to bed tonight thinking DKos is a nest of evil reptiles out to do great harm to the country.  We aren't, and that's why we need to respond.

I'm all for keeping a picture of him on the front page- with a lunatic real quote of his underneath it, or just him having a typical Bad Facelift day.  No need to take his crap- keeping him mocked and upset and refuted by his own words is our business here.

Look, he has an audience of unredeemably crotchety and resentful, poorly educated white men between 55 and 75.  That's who he is about and who he's getting advertising revenue to cater to.  No need to go to war with that except at the ballot bax, where they and their champions and pets are getting voted out in any case.  No point trying to make peace with those morons, either.  Let 'em live and mock them from a distance, and remember that November '08 matters and the Loofah-eating cohorts don't.

Let those who need his words to avoid reality find comfort in Billo. His younger audience is taking a dive, and for that we should be greatful. Truely, he is responsible for his own unravelling. He claimed to offer "No Spin." When Bush and the Repubs were filling high, it looked like no spin to many. But now, when reality is so obvious, his true purpose is obvious to many. Let him "Spin" to those who need cover. It is an ever dwindling and agied group.

but the nut jobs who watch them.

How many Kossacks work for employers / bosses for whom Fox News is background music?

And, this is a framing.  O'Reilly's comments about Daily Kos being nothing but the type of things he quotes ... well, it will make life harder for at least some people who post here / are engaged in the community.

Wonder how many Kossacks will be fired in the coming months? (Note: there are many employment at will states.)

Wonder how many network administrators will lock off access to Daily Kos?

    Wonder ...
