Karl Rove, the college dropout who made Bush II president, is very good at winning elections. However, he is not very good at winning wars. Like a great Field Marshall, he urged Bush to undertake the conquest of Iraq. But unfortunately, Marshall Rove had no military experience whatsoever, so his plans aren't proceeding well.
Why was Rove so eager to invade? Because he knew that the American lynch mob wanted vengance for the 9/11 attack. Roves electoral victories have always been based on a canny ability to exploit the (growing) mean and vicious streak in the American electorate.
But it takes more than meanness to win a war. It takes specialized expertise and careful planning. In his ignornace, Rove believed that the ideologues he and Cheney installed in the Pentagon were pros who could conquer an empire. But these neo-con experts turned out to be military incompetents too.
Now poor Marshall Rove must use his slither away tactic of blaming the press and the American people for stabbing our brave soldiers in the back. Our people are proving themselves unworthy of the great Marshall Rove's leadership. If only they had stood firm, our conquest would have been complete.
America is now led by people who cannot manage our military, economic, or social affairs. They know how to win office, but they don't know how to govern. It's time to retire Field Marshall Rove.
