Radicalized

Fri Jul 20, 2007 at 01:15:18 AM PDT

That is the magic word for the day on FOX. The Democrats have become Radical since the election. FOX news decided this just today. The Meme is in.

Every stupid show on that stupid channel is pounding it home that the Democrats and those who support them are radical, rabid people. Hillary Clinton has been warned by the Pentagon to sit down and shut up. The Daily Kos is full of brown shirts, secretly organizing for a takeover.

I realize that most people on this site do not watch FOX nor tolerate it, and of course I do not either. I only 'hear' it because I live with people who do watch it.

FOX news is the propaganda pulse of the Whitehouse.

And even though the channel has never been extremely kind to Democrats, it also has not gone full throttle like this on ALL Democrats everywhere, implying they are apart of some kind of underground movement to radicalize the country.

Couple this with all the rumors that the New Executive Order will give President Decider authoritarian powers and I am sort of for the first time, sort of scared. I mean, really frightened.

I really wish a Democratic leader would address the new Executive Order, either during session or in a diary here. What are we to make of this? Isn't this at last an impeachable offense?

FOX news is really attempting to work the public up into a frenzy and it doesn't look good from here. Yes, they are always up to no good, but this smacks of, I hate to say it-Goebbels. Just before Poland. I am sure I am going to get plenty of comments deriding me, but lucky for me I am fairly thick skinned and also I am sitting in front of a computer screen that I can turn off. Fire away!

it was to live with a budget surplus which was President Bill Clinton's fault. Them dang Democrats.

Fight for Democrats in 2008 or the Republicans will continue to follow us home into our private lives.

    it's projection.

They're the radicals (see:  absolute power in the executive), but as soon as we try to counteract them, they accuse us of radicalism, which can innoculate themselves against the charge.

    1. There's nothing wrong with being `radical' if that's what opposing militaristic aggression and Jesus-fascism is called. Don't internalize the right's propaganda (like Democrats did with the word `liberl' in the 1980's).
    1. Remind folks that the `radicals' and `extremists' in US politics are those who like to call themselves `conservatives' but advocate throwing out the Constitution, giving the government over to god, making war with nations which don't kowtwo to the US, militarizing the US internally, walling the US off from the world, and so forth and so on.

That is frankly the big difference from 1930s Germany.  Mr. 30% is in a much worse position than Hitler, with widespread popular support for reviving the economy and defying the French, was.

      It is true!

Bush can make all the executive orders he wants but he has failed at winning people over. If he actually tries to use his new Executive Order it is going to backfire after awhile.

In the morning, look closely at the citizens you see, and ask and count those in a frenzy caused by FOX.  Post your results.

  •  Ek-tually, this raises an interesting question (1+ / 0-)

Let's assume, given the current trends in play, that the next president is a Democrat. What happens to FOX News? Will it continue to shill for the admin, or will it become an antagonist to it?

I raise this question here because FOX has changed quite a bit over the past 6 years and it won't necessarily be easy for them to revert back to the role they played in the Clinton years. FOX is now official government propaganda - so I ask again - will they serve the same function for a Democrat?

      •  Agreed, again. (0+ / 0-)

Fox will simply work to discredit the Dem. Admin. with more stories, for longer duration, about controversial decisions.  They will be termed mistakes, for the greater part, and displayed as negative decisions.  Murdoch cares more about money, true, but he also has a political agenda that he's not going to dump.

After all, Rupert Murdoch, being Australian and all, doesn't really give a crap about American politics.  Mostly he's interested in making money.  I think, as soon as the current track of FOX News stops making him money, he'll change tactics.  Dunno what those will be yet, however.

      •  Mm-hm (0+ / 0-)

There are many interesting possibilities. If he makes a shift to the left, he could, potentially, become a valuable asset. Gold coins are more likely to start falling out of my colon, but it's hard to imagine the entire FOX network going into "we hate the White House" mode for 4 years.

  •  Radicalism? What radicalism? (1+ / 0-)

What gets me about this is, the Democrats currently in office are doing very little that they were elected to do.  The voters got them control of both the House and the Senate so things would change.  And yet, here they are (Many of them...not all.  I'm generalizing.), sitting back and letting BushCo trample all over them anyway.  That is the part that I find scary.

If they were actually doing something to set all the things straight that Bush had made wrong throughout the past years...now that would be radical!

    •  Recently they have started pushing back a bit (0+ / 0-)

Hence the FOX meme or radical crazy Dems.

The Pentagon told Hillary she was inteferring with national security because she wants us out of Iraq.

      And this is scary:

The Executive Order: Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq which was recently signed by President Bush reads...

"I hereby order: all property and interests in property of the following persons, that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of United States persons, are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in:(for) any person... undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people.

      •  That sounds like us to me (0+ / 0-)

I've been away, for awhile, and hadn't heard of this order.  What are Dem. leaders (or even just the herd Dem's) saying about this?  I agree with you, completely, that this smacks of Goebbels.  This means anyone who doesn't support the troop surge could be interfering with Iraq's political reform.  Anyone who questions where the reconstruction money is going could be accused of undermining the effort for reconstruction.  Don't question.  Don't complain.  Don't stop me.
Thanks for bringing it up, my friend, and thanks for being our spy on Fox ^__^.  Fact is, Murdoch has been allowed to own the media (now that he owns the W.S.J.) and his influence will continue to grow.  This country is lost.
