Calling All Oregonian Kossacks!
Sun Jul 22, 2007 at 05:53:25 PM PDT
Ever had a great idea for a diary, but felt it was too "Oregon-specific" to post here? Wanted to talk to other progressive Oregonians about Measure 49 (fixing 37), bridging the gap between the "two Oregons," the Chalkboard Project, Getting "on the Bus," whether Jeff Merkley should throw his hat into the Senate race, or something even more squarely within arcane Oregoniana?
Ever thought it would be great if there was a mini-Daily Kos just for Oregon issues?
If so, and you haven't already heard it somewhere else yet, there's good fantastic news after the fold!
Carla and Torrid Joe at Loaded Orygun, together with their guest bloggers, have informed, called to action, and earned the award-winning site its reputation as one of the state's premiere progressive online resources. Loaded Orygun readers have been kept abreast of local and statewide political developments, and Carla & TJ have broken important news, like debunking the MSM's smear of Rep. Betsy Johnson (D-Scapoose).

Last Sunday, Carla & TJ moved Loaded Orygun from its longtime home on Blogspot, completely redesigned and with a full complement of interactive features similar to those here on Daily Kos, including profiles, user-written diaries, ratings & comments, and, well, you know the drill. Their diligent reporting and such features as the weekly "Spanning the State" article are retained on the front page. The "new-and-improved" LO is inspired by and connected with the 50-State-Blog-Network, so that the site can not only better support Oregon initiatives, but relate them to similar efforts across the country.
In fact, in my opinion, LO is poised to fill an important gap in the progressive movement in Oregon, and deserves the support of Kossacks, especially those of us who live south of Washington State, and north of California. Please check it out, and consider creating an account.

Postscript (added 6:23 PM PDT): I could not find any prohibition in the FAQ against using a diary to pimp recommend another site. I consider this appropriate for my day's diary, especially since I am not affiliated with LO except as a longtime reader, and now a registered user and occasional diarist, much like my relationship here. However, if it is out of bounds, I will be happy to delete.
