Reading the
NY
Times article on the Pro-Delay lobbyist
spend-fest and Republican morale booster at the Hilton yesterday you'd get the following impression:
1. Delay is a bit of a cocky jerk
2. Money was flowing
3. He's being abandoned by House Republicans and the White House
The headline told #1 only. In fact, the story's tone was about DeLay as a strong victor. But in detail, the story was more about Delay losing some ground. And that's good. Let the spinning begin!
Now for some fun...
Here is DeLay's quote from the article:
"No ideas, no leadership, no agenda," Mr. DeLay said in a speech to hundreds
of conservatives gathered at the banquet. "And in just the last week we
can add to that list: no class."
Here’s the liberal quote:
"Tom DeLay is the poster boy of big government,
fiscal recklessness and public
corruption," said Tony Chaudhuri of Campaign for America's Future, a liberal
organization that has begun a publicity blitz against Mr. DeLay.
In my dreams, this is how the NY Times quoted my take on the night and DeLay:
"Tom
DeLay is a liar and a thief. That’s why he’s got to go.
Once
he’s gone we’re taking on each and every other lying and criminal
politician in Washington. We’re putting DeLay and the rest of these guys on notice: Your rampage
on American values ends now."
What’s your dream quote?
