Is every 10 days enough, HARRY REID?

Is Harry's plan ENOUGH? Can we hang our collective hats on the specific rule or law that Reid is counting on to keep Bush at bay during recess?

According to U.S. News magazine
"Reid will call the Senate into session just long enough to force the [president] to send his nominees who need confirmation to the chamber." Reid's plan is to "hold a quickie 'pro forma' session every 10 days, tapping a local senator to run the hall.

BUT, will every 10 days actually be "JUST LONG ENOUGH"???

The question is, is this plan enough or will Bush ignore the rules again? ??? Bush ignores American laws in wholesale fashion so WHY would he NOT simply claim that the rules for Congress don't apply to him??? (or whatever rule or law Reid has in mind) WE MUST REMEMBER, he has the ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES on his side!! WE MUST stay in session CONTINUOUSLY, or we will lose what may be our only chance to restore American Democracy.

WILL BUSH SIMPLY CLAIM THAT CONGRESS WAS NOT ACTUALLY IN SESSION BECAUSE NO BILLS WERE BEING DISCUSSED OR VOTED ON?? DO WE NOT have enough proof that the Bush White House HAS NO REGARD WHATSOEVER FOR REALITY??? (That reality being the law)

Despite the fact that we've all heard this a thousand and one times, it is now true that Bush knows it is only a matter of time before Al is history, and as we've all seen before many times, these slick dogs will choose THEIR OWN TIME to let Gonzo fall, and they'll install a new puppy AT THE EXACT SAME MOMENT unless we DO NOT allow Congress to go into recess. That's RIGHT!!! AT THE SAME EXACT MOMENT they let Gonzo go they will install GONZO II. And they'll say they did it so quickly for the good of the public...blah blah blah.

As you know, the ATTORNEY GENERAL is the one man most responsible for keeping a check on the WHite House. When he doesn't do his job the White House has nearly unlimited power. The power to spy on ANYONE. The power to END OUR RIGHT to HABEAS CORPUS. And even the power to end FREE AND DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS. This White house has already shown a willingness and desire to take these precious rights from Americans. If Congress is allowed to go into recess and Bush is allowed to replace Gonzo with another neo-con bastard THE BLAME WILL BE YOURS.

Mr. Reid, if you are in any way serious about restoring for us our infringed upon constitutional rights, and if you are honestly seeking to end the war in Iraq, and if you are actually not beholden to Halliburton, Kellogg Brown and Root, or some other group of Corporate billionaires, you WILL keep Congress in session so we can finally force Bush to send someone OF OUR LIKING to the Department of Justice and give America a chance at ending this fascist governments' disregard for our laws.

Demand that Congress be kept in session EVERYDAY until Al Gonzo has been REPLACED!!

  I have read on this site, from an ultra conservative lawyer whom Major Danby respects the arguments of, that the lowest threshold is 3 days.

  Longer than that and you need to inform the House you are in recess.

  It makes sense to me.  They go home every night and they take weekends off.

  Is this in the Constitution?  Probably not, but I suspect it is part of the Rules of the Senate and/or House.

  Perhaps Reid believes that the things he's put in place are enough to keep Bush from nominating a Gonzalez replacement?  I know I trust him and his people more on the rules of the Senate and recess appointments than I do some dailykos diarist I've never heard of who presents absolutely no evidence for his/her assertions.

  Regardless of that, it's nothing short of ridiculous to suggest that Reid's belief that Bush won't recess-nominate a Gonzalez replacement during the August break is evidence that he doesn't want to end the war in Iraq and is owned by KBR and corporate interests.  That kind of thinking has got to go.
