It's unclear what's really happening in Iraq, the news has been somewhat sparse.
But just a couple of things I've noted today in my readings...
Hans Blix says 'Iraq on Verge of Civil War'. He gives us this quote:
"I think they may have been sincerely convinced there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, like some were convinced of the existence of witches in the 18th century," he said.
Then there was this article I came across, after following through on some discussion from BBC articles. What the British Learned in 1920 by not leaving Iraq. Talks a bit about the 1920 uprising. It is amazing how history repeats itself.
I followed some of the Rice testimony this morning, and I kept thinking "My God, these people just have no idea." I'll have to follow up later with what Kerrey had to say, but the parts I heard from the Commissioner's questions, Rice was very much on the defensive.
Still, I'll be honest. I understand that difficulties, and I understand the ease of looking back in hindsight.
What pisses me off the most is the Republicans tried to blame 9/11 on Bill Clinton. For that act of audacity, they get no quarter.
And I leave with this...
"This tax bill is a one-way ticket to a recession. [...] This is the Democrat machine's recession, and each one of them will be held personally accountable." - Newt Gingrich
There is no personal accountability in the Republican party.
