This story from MSNBC reminds me of something Gen. Clark consistently said when he was on the stump: that the war in Iraq diverted military resources from taking down Al-Quaida. Richard Clarke has been saying the same thing recently.
Now that Al-Quaida has launched more attacks around the world since 9/11 then the 3 years prior to 9/11, it seems like this should be something Kerry hits on the stump. We're not as safe as we should be because of this diversion that's cost us time, money and lives. And, with Bushies making noise about Cuba having WMD, the message that we get focused on Al-Quaida and not have further diversions based on misleading rhetoric may resonate.
