Again, Bill O'Reilly has to look no further than Fox News's web page to see the "Holiday" menace spreading throughout this land. But there is an alternative...
...the Portland alternative radio station
KBOO.
While Fox News still calls its end-of-year gift guide a "Holiday" section, KBOO's monthly programming guide uses the C-word twice on its cover.
KBOO has a rotation of improv groups that do shows at 11 pm on Monday nights. The cover of the programming guide mentions that they'll be performing "Christmas" specials.
Likewise, it's a KBOO tradition of running a reading of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Father Christmas Letters around December 25. (This year's showing will be from 7-9 p.m. on Christmas Day.)
The irony is piling up thick - "Fair and Balanced" Fox News still continues to use "Holiday," while the alternative radio station dares to utter the C-Word in public. It may be the Nixon Goes to China theory operating in reverse - only people secure in liberalism can utter the word "Christmas" on the public airwaves.
