Judy Woodruff reports this exchange by the Kerry/Bush camps:
- Kerry: When he said that he voted for the 87 billion before he voted against it, it was late at night and he was tired.
- Bush: The rally was held midday.
- Kerry: Bush wants to debate time of say instead of the issues.
Is he nuts?
Kerry brought it up and he apparently made it up. There are so many good responses to the "voted for/voted against" clip. He voted for a version that didn't mortgage our children's future. He voted against a version that would ballon the deficit and hurt the economy. Bush himself 'voted' against it (via his veto threat of the fiscally responsible version) before he 'voted' for it (by signing the budget busting version). Why couldn't Kerry just something like that?
This is so maddening because he is giving his opponents the shovel they will use to bury him with. We can't make mistakes like this.
Damn!
