Air America Radio Blog

Sat Aug 25, 2007 at 09:20:05 AM PDT

Is anyone else having trouble publishing comments on the Air America blogs of Thom Hartmann and Rachel Maddow?  I log in, and it gives me the comment form, but when I submit it it's acting like I never logged in.

It's really discouraging.  Maybe Kos Media should offer to rebuild their blog into something that works as well as DailyKos.

And I hope Kos Media charges them... seeing as how they have money to pay for that crap radio "host" "Lionel"...

  •  It's unfortunate, but Air America Radio (7+ / 0-)

is run by idiots. And I have this from someone prominent on the inside. They don't own any of their commercial time. That's right, none. So they get no revenue from ads. WTF? Green taking over did nothing but save AA until its next bankruptcy. They need radio pros in there, not a bunch of middle aged white guys who kowtow at the alter of the 18-34 YO male demographic. Lionel? Please. Young turks? Well, they're not all bad, but not my cup of java.
I wish I'd win the lottery (a big one). I'd buy that damn station and set it right!

are totally great. Cenk is one of the best voices on the left. I do wish a rich Dem would pony up some money and ensure their solvency for a few years. Give the network a chance to succeed.

How on earth were they allowed to go into bankruptcy?! Over what, 4 million dollars?! Nobody could sweep in and quietly pay a few debtors?

The right wing has billionaires who do it, where are our rich guys/gals?!

      •  Yeah their business plan is totally (1+ / 0-)

f'd up. It's too bad. Those on the air want it to succeed, but those running the show have their heads up their butts.
I don't mean to dis the Turks. I appreciate them, they're just not my cup of tea. If it's between Stephanie Miller and the Turks in the AM, I'll take Steph.
As far as the rich guys go, they're too busy trying to save the world (George Soros, for one). I just wish they would see the value in left wing radio as far as their own projects go.
If I won the lottery, I'd buy Air America and try and turn it around. (I know, dream on!)

A better use for lottery winnings would be to buy a local radio station, and pick and choose which feeds to put out from all three networks.  Air America has some great talent, as does Jones Radio Network and Nova M.  But honestly what we really need is local shows broadcasting nationally.

          •  Absolutely. (0+ / 0-)

I'd love to set up a radio station in these parts. But nothing is available with the signal strength to make it work for Boston. But I'd also love to see AA turned around. The on-air talent has the knowledge and ideas, but the business side (with, I guess from what I've heard, little radio experience) doesn't have a clue. They just think it's cool.

I offered to help with system testing their stuff - they never got back.

My original name was 4 letters, needed 5 characters.  So I added an asterisk - it accepted.

Now when I log in, I get a message saying that my user name is not accurate because of the asterisk.

But YOU accepted it, you big buffoons.

      •  Their web sites need help too. (0+ / 0-)

Every on-air personality has their own, but they are not consistent in workability or in look. The problems they have are almost no-brainers. But the management hasn't a clue.
I remember when they started. i kept waiting for promo items, a little viral marketing...nothing. I emailed them several times to tell them about Cafepress - at least they could get promo items available quickly. It took them almost 4-6 months to do even that. It should have been done months before they even went on air.

in this country. (Lionel is lousy but he is only one voice among many good ones.) We desperately need progressive radio.  Latest thing is they want to change the format at KLSD in San Diego to sports, when they already have 3 sports stations. Might be nice to drop them an encouraging email at support@1360klsd.com.
