UPDATE: Now the authorities, they have ceased to be a government, is busing all the refugees to the Astrodome in Houston. Then what?
If you can believe it, "the American people" are being asked to take up the slack.
This is bad, people.
I don't know what to do with my rage.
So, all Americans should recognize that we are on our own.
It is clear to me and I suppose everyone else, that the government has collapsed. The disaster relief has been a disaster.
The government has collapsed at every level, city, state and federal.
The relief has been window dressing at best. The media cannot conceal the abject and criminal failures of the government to perform.
This is criminal negligence, people, and it starts with the POTUS.
If government has one over riding responsibility it is to protect and secure the welfare of its citizens. When they are unable to do even the minimum, it becomes a full breakdown and collapse.
I'd like not to hear any more about looting. This is the government diverting attention from its own criminal failures.
This is what we are witnessing in New Orleans most vividly and in the entire region. A collapse of our gvernment. Later, we can ask, how this happened again. Now, we have a cataclysmic human tragedy unfolding.
I am particulalrly fearful because, this is a terrible dress rehearsal for the next terror attack.
It seems abundantly clear that the lies, deceit and bullshit of the last four plus years has come home to roost.
I live in Manhattan, 9/11 was the worst day of my life. It was unimaginable. It was also contained. It was in a section of lower Manhattan that made the rescue and recovery plausible.
We have been advised by Bushco for the last four years that the next attack will NOT BE CONTAINED. It will be nuclear, a dirty bomb, biologic, chemical. They tell us it will be far worse than 9/11.
I think, the unfolding tragedy in the Gulf has revealed to the world that we are not ready.
This failure, IMO, equals all the failures of 9/11, because once again, our government has totally and completely failed.
This time, we must hold them accountable.
