The Edwards Evening News Roundup

Good Evening, I'm Bennyo5, and I'm the guest anchor here.  I was at the Yearly Kos, and I will report only news with a couple of tidbits from the MSM and from Kos.  Yearly Kos announced that it will be Netroots Nation convention next year.

Let us look back to some great moments at Yearly Kos and how John Edwards was part of our community.

    Edwards does care and "gets it".  

    More and more people who see him in person recognize his ability to lead in difficult times.  He just does not give up.

•  I was pleased with all candidates performances,

  but in my view Edwards shone during the debate. He stayed on message and answered questions fairly. I believe this was due in part to the fact his message is shaped by well thought out and fleshed out positions and he is comfortable on his "feet".

      Met catchawave, clarkkent, benny05, tracy joan, cosbo, meowmissy, montana maven.

      At lunch on Friday, I was a t a table with two otehrs I did not know when Mathew Yglesias, Ezra, and a bunch of otehr bloggers sat down, and ate lunch while blogging on their sites.  I did not knwo who they were until afterwards.

      I went to a dinner Friday night and met Amanda Marcotte, Jerome a Paris, Bondad, nyceve, a woman from firedoglake who is a frontpager there (I cannot remember her name), Dr. Steve, some other bloggers, and a some Change to Win folks, who put on a small dinner for bloggers interested in labor issues.  Good people.  I had a really fun conversation with Amanda.  For all the fame she has had, she is real down to earth and a fun person.  (I was star struck just being around famous bloggers)  

      So much happened.  

      On Friday and Saturday, among others, I met Adam B, DL, dday, Darci Bruner, McJoan, and many, many others I can not name right now.

      On Saturday before the debate, I spent three hours handing out Edwards stickers to wear on your shirt.  I bet I gave away 500 of them, maybe more.  We moved the inflatable furniture up by the ball room and plastered Edwards bumper stickers on it.

      A Newsweek reporter interviewed an Edwards supporter.  

      The media also filmed the furniture.

      I gave Markos an Edwards sticker, which he accepted graciously, but declined to wear (at least for now).  

      I met icebergslim, who is really nice.  Fish out of Water, MaryB2004, whom I already knew, poemless, Irish Patti, who was looking to see how much trouble she could get in a 1 am last night.

      It was really fun.

      Edwards was absolutely GREAT!  The debate was great and teh session afterward was great.  Edwards was the most popular break out session and most people were very impressed with him.

      Hoffa was great at the Teamsters Dinner.

      I had a great time and will be back next year.

      I'm going next year.

              I wasn't at the booth long - I stopped by between two panels, and fell asleep Saturday afternoon long enough that I never made it back - I barely got to the Teamsters shindig to pick up some food!

              Oh, my, what a very full weekend that was. I'll have to write Ahianne with some of the interesting sites mentioned during panels.

  today.  Meeting with more union people on the picket line.

  There were many more smiles than normal around the shack just before noon Sunday, when Democratic Party presidential candidate John Edwards came to show solidarity for the mixers, yard employees and drivers who have been joined by union members from Vermillion, S.D.

  Several hundred people gathered just outside as Edwards began his five-stop campaign swing through Sioux City, Orange City, Sheldon, Spirit Lake and Spencer. His theme on the day was to ensure that not just the upper class in America thrives, and that the middle class doesn't disappear.

  I really like this part:

  "Jim Sheard, secretary of Teamsters Local Union 554, said he's known Edwards for five years, and "while none of the unions are making endorsements yet," he added, "I gotta tell you that John Edwards is the candidate who is not afraid of the word 'union.'"

  Obama had two eager aides handing out pins and shirts. Edwards surrounded his table with funky inflatable furniture, drawing weary bloggers looking for a place to sit down. Clinton's table was often not staffed, though an aide scratched out a note telling activists how to find her campaign on the Internet.

  I am looking for Edwards supporters who are willing to record a short mp3 saying why they are supporting John Edwards for President in 2008.

  I have a podcast with a rather large audience and I want to do a show dedicated to the campaign.  I have done a couple already but would like to do a special one with recordings from various supporters added in.

  You can use audacity to record your message and then email it to me.  Please save the recording as an mp3.  You can download audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

  It is a free program.  

  I will listen to the mp3s and use as many as I can.  

  here is a podcast I did for the campaign in the past.
