Mr. Miller, it's time for you to drop out of the VA Senate race. Why? Because we don't have time to play republican games, and we're sick and tired of them.
Let me start at the beginning, Mr. Miller. Petition time. You and Mr. Webb needed 10,000 signatures to get on the ballot. Obviously, you both succeeded. But while the Webb VOLUNTEERS ended up getting 14,231 signatures, you were PAYING people per signature. Bad ju-ju, Mr. Miller. If you don't have enough volunteer supporters willing to get a measly 10,000 signatures for your petition, you have no business being in the race.
You know all those Webb signs you see during picnics, parades, caucuses, the Shad Planking, etc.? They didn't just magically appear. VOLUNTEERS put them there. Webb signs always outnumber yours at these events. Thousands of Webb signs didn't just magically get stapled and assembled. Webb VOLUNTEERS put them together. Who assembled yours? Where are your volunteers? Where's their passion?
When Mr. Webb has to be in more than one place at the same time, he has legions of qualified, passionate speakers to appear and speak on his behalf. And you have...who? Young whippersnappers who have no clue, apparently. From what I've seen, they aren't very adept in explaining your position, especially when it comes to outsourcing, lobbying, and the money you've given to republicans. They give the mantra, "Miller is the best candidate to beat George Allen." Ask them why, they get a deer-in-the-headlights look. Do you have to pay them to show up?
At every single meeting I've been at, Webb VOLUNTEERS work the crowd. There is Webb literature scattered all over the place. Your stuff just "appears," with no clue as to who brought it. They don't pick it up after the meetings, either. Do they not care enough to stay through the meetings to pick your stuff up afterwards? Do they just appear long enough to drop a few things off and then leave?
Do you have a phone bank? If you do, is it staffed with volunteers, or do you have to pay them, `cause Mr. Webb has thousands of VOLUNTEERS all across Virginia who are willing to put off living our day-to-day routine so we can call complete strangers for GOTV. Personally, that is WAY out of my comfort zone, but I'll do it for Jim Webb.
I don't know why you got into the race. Don't already have enough money you got from that outsourcing and lobbying? Bored? What have you promised your backers IF you win? Mr. Webb was recruited to run by VOLUNTEERS of the great state of Virginia who know what we need. And it ain't more of the same...which is you. We're sick and tired of money buying races.
I am in 100% agreement that DC "leaders" need to stay out of our races. I agree 100% that there should be primaries. But, as elections go, games get played, which is why I'm pist. See, I'm new to Virginia. I didn't realize until now that anyone and everyone can vote in the democrat primary between you and Mr. Webb. Virginia being a state where you don't have to register to vote as R, D, I, or anything, creates an interesting situation for a primary run, which is where we stand now, and the reason YOU MUST PULL OUT OF THE RACE.
On a level playing field, Mr. Miller, you will lose the primary. But we don't have a level playing field here, do we? I don't know if you're part of the game or an innocent bystander. Either way, democrats WILL lose if you stay in, which is the republican plan for the game they're playing. Can't you see it? Do you care? Even with all your millions, you can't win at all costs in this game, Mr. Miller. You cannot beat George Allen. Jim Webb can. The republicans know that, which is why they will show up in droves to vote for you in the democrat primary. But they won't be voting FOR you, Mr. Miller. They will be voting AGAINST Jim Webb because they don't want their Georgie Boy to have to go up against Jim Webb. Those same people will NOT vote for you against George Allen, and you know that.
The majority opinion here on Kos is that we must back whoever wins the democrat primary. On the whole, I agree with that statement, but NOT in this case. If you stay in this race and let this republican game continue, IF you win, I'm gone. I'll focus on the congressional race more. I'm GONE, Mr. Miller. You will not get one second of time from me. You will not get one penny from me. I will not vote in the senate race because there is NO difference between you and VA's Georgie Boy. So what, you say, because you have all the money in the world to PAY people to get your message out? Exactly my point, Mr. Miller. Jim Webb has grassroots support, the way it's supposed to work. You remember that, right? Jim Webb has over 2,000 regular Joe volunteers, the incredible shrinking middle class, working our butts off to make sure the other regular Joes in Virginia get represented by someone who will represent US. That would be Jim Webb.
Mr. Miller, THIS IS NOT A GAME. This is our lives you're playing with. Do you think the reason Mr. Webb has hundreds of more volunteers than you do is simply because we don't have anything else to do? I DON'T THINK SO. My grass needs to be mowed. My plants are dying from neglect. I can't see the bottom of my desk for all the crap laying on it. If I had to pay my bills by check, stamp, mailing, I'd be screwed, `cause that takes too much time. We have more peppermints and napkins from Sonic than Sonic does. I also have a job that you haven't outsourced yet. We're not putting our lives and families on hold just so you and the republicans can pull this crap on us. Virginia deserves better.
At this stage of "the game," you can be selfish, stay in, probably win the primary because republicans WILL vote for you in the democrat primary, then you will lose to George Allen, which is what they want; or you can do the right thing for Virginia and PULL OUT OF THE RACE. What's more important to you, winning, or Virginia?
Your move.
