Vitter's New Orleans problem is back...

Mon Sep 10, 2007 at 04:35:35 PM PDT

Illustrious Louisiana Senator made news recently for being on the phone list for the D.C. madam, apologized for a vague "very serious sin", and received a standing ovation from the Republican caucus.

He denied allegations that he had also had affair with a prostitute in New Orleans.  Now, those allegations are coming back:

A former New Orleans prostitute who says she had an affair with Sen. David Vitter has passed a lie-detector test and will provide details of the four-month relationship at a press conference Tuesday, according to Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt.

Wendy Cortez, whose real name is Wendy Ellis, says she had a sexual relationship with Vitter, R-La., in 1999, when he was a state legislator.

Vitter will no doubt claim his previous generic apology covers all his extramarital affairs, even though his apology specifically addressed the D.C. case and he never said his denials of his New Orleans case were lies.  I don't think Vitter should resign for being a lying sleazy hypocrite, but I would love for him and his self-righteous Republican defenders to go through another round of squirming.  Pass the popcorn.
