Kat Murdough was an intern at the New Hampshire for Dean office in Keene, New Hampshire and a staunch Dean Supporter since the very beginning. She was also one of the few, the proud, the Republicans for Dean. Here is her statement of support for Senator John Edwards.
Over the past month I have, obviously, been continuing to watch the presidential primary unfold, and, after much research and reflection, have decided to endorse Senator John Edwards for President. Some of you might be thinking "How can she do that after working so hard for Governor Dean?" And, you're, right, I did work hard for him- as a writer and as an intern- harder than I've worked for anything in my life. I did it because I was inspired by his ability to empower my generation and his willingness to give us a voice.
Senator Edwards is also willing to listen to us, and to give us that voice. He understands the issues that young people in America are faced with, and is committed to creating a better future. He knows how difficult it is for young Americans trying to find jobs and thrive in an economy burdened by deficits and high unemployment; he will work hard to create jobs and foster economic growth. He knows the struggle many families go through in order to pay for college; his "College for Everyone" plan is designed to give every young person the chance to further their education. In addition, he is dedicated to improving America's public schools by improving curriculum, creating smaller schools, and investing teacher training and raising teaching salaries.
Senator Edwards clear, positive message makes me confident that he can take on George Bush in November, and that he will work hard to create a better America, so that the future that our generation inherits will be a bright one.
