Quit using the word "redeploy"

Sat Sep 01, 2007 at 11:26:03 PM PDT

When I hear about the redeployment of our troops, I wonder where in Iran they will be redeployed to. Redeployment is not bringing our troops home.  It's a weak way of saying that you oppose this war but don't actually have the spine to end it completely. There is no political risk in saying that you want to bring our troops home now. When pundits ask you if you support an immediate withdrawal (like it's such a bad thing), the answer should be an emphatic YES. Anything else is a mealy-mouthed, sitting on the fence lack of spine. Voters see right through your "have it both ways" rhetoric about ending this war. Put up or shut up.

something that had been ringing in my ears too.

The  word "redeploy" used in earnest to show a new way out of Iraq... sounds like just so much more equivicating wiggle room ..!!!

Nothing like talking straight with the American people.

redploy to the borders of Iraq.  And it always bothered me because they never say which countries will allow US troops to hang out.  We know Saudi Arabia will say no, Kuwait might say yes, Turkey is unlikely, Syria is a no, and Iran is a no.  So when I hear redeploy to the borders I wonder exactly where these troops will go.  Did I miss a border?

OMG thank you :) I want to punch something every time I hear that word. Please, people, just say what you mean. Withdrawal is not a dirty word!

tested.  They probably found that "redeploy" means whatever the listener wants it to mean.  And it probably does.
