Yes, history folks. While there was the CBS bloggers attack before this, even that pales in comparison.
Gannongate is a whole other ball of wax, this isn't a PRIVATE company we are talking about here, nope, it is the government, and those who are now in control of that government.
Watergate took a long time to become what it did, many news stories, many investigations, and finally the hearings, and one man, John Dean, who had the guts to tell the truth.
Daily Kos has taken on the role that journalists once played, and we have shown those who call themselves "journalists" that they are not worthy of their title.

This is historical in many ways. First of all this could lead to a new infusion of backbone into those now reporting on the WH (especially if it starts to sell papers and brings bottom line profit). Right now the story is best found online, but if the papers start to do their job then the story will take on a new angle, a new and perhaps deeper level.
What we have done here is expose the media for their laziness, for their inability to do their job, and to shame them into having the story blow up all around them, without ANY input from them.
Whether or not Gannongate results in a more serious story isn't the point, the point is that blogs are providing news, investigative journalism, and we are doing it better than those who have been trained in journalism (though I am sure there are a few journalism majors hanging around here.)
Everyone in this community who has participated in the research, posted blogs, tracked timelines, saved webpages that have now been deleted, all of you should know that you have done more in these last few weeks to bring back our democracy than that which had been entrusted to protect us, that formerly known "fourth estate."
I deem blogs the new "fifth estate" one that has, for better or worse, now developed into something that can be trusted. Sadly the MSM has proven it can no longer be trusted, but it can be moved once something gets as hot as the Gannon story.
It is true what another person said on the latest Gannon thread that was on the front page, which was while we have been able to get the ball rolling, the reporters have the contacts and the ablity to really go and connect the dots.
If they fail, then there will be another evolution of blogs, of our own seeking out of contacts, of knowing that there is more we need to do, and do we shall.
To all of you who have done so much on this story, I thank you from all of my heart. You have shown our Nation what can be done when the truth is what one seeks.
And lastly, as I read in the front page thread, let us NOT get tricked by Rove or his ilk, let us continue to research, to check, double check, question and make sure that what we come up with is not what Rove fed to us.
My hat is off to all of you!
