K Street goes Democratic

Thu Sep 27, 2007 at 05:56:43 AM PDT

With the Republican party in self-destruct mode the big money puppet masters need a new political machine to keep their ponzi scheme running smoothly and it seems they have settled on Hillary as their best chance to contain the damage and maintain control of our futures. From Larry Kudlow to Alan Greenspan, Hillary has become the 'responsible' and 'realistic' Democrat. The Wall Street wing of the Republican party is looking forward to a replay of the Clinton's in driver's seat.

After all it was Bill Clinton who put a happy face on the Republican agenda and sold it better then any Republican ever could. NAFTA, welfare reform, globalization. It drove a lot of Republicans nuts that he co-oped their core policy initiatives and was more effective at selling and executing them then they where. So the lobbyists are lining up and the pundits are spinning appropriate narratives to prepare the way. No doubt like Bill, Hillary will be a lot slicker and more competent then the gang that couldn't shoot straight now driving the American enterprise over a cliff. But look for more of the same as we have now in a better package with a Clinton presidency.

As to the other candidates? Obama seems tentative and not ready for prime-time and the Kumbaya reach across the aisle to Tom Tancredo, Kyle and company drivel is really not what we need right now if we are going to end the war, avert the irreparable disaster that would ensue if we attack Iran and halt the destruction of the American middle class. How about reaching across the aisle to the unrepresented majority of people who don't have lobbyists to advance their agenda? Edwards stump speech is right on the money with core Democratic values in defense of the 90% of Americans who work for a paycheck. But having seen him vote for the war because it was politically expedient I wonder if his stance is just a politician taking advantage of a position which could propel him to the number one spot.

We really need a leader and not a politician. Gore alone on the war, the environment, etc., was speaking truth to power when it was not popular and when he got nothing but scorn in return. It's like after the debacle of the last election he went off into the desert and returned transformed and I'm liking what he's become. I hope he decides to enter the race. We need some real change and I don't see any of these candidates and especially not Hillary bringing it. If Hillary is the candidate I'll vote for her. She would be light years ahead of the truly scary bunch of vicious cretins on the Republican side. But we are running out of time on a lot of issues and not just the US but the world is in dire need of some visionary leadership and of a leader who isn't eyeball deep in corporate largess and doesn't need to market test every statement and position to see which way the wind is blowing today. If the greedy few that have been running the planet are allowed to continue unfettered with their reckless policies we are headed for a disaster.

  •  If it doesn't matter what (0+ / 0-)

the Republicans say, then why haven't we ended the war.

I find this statement of yours totally naive.

Obama seems tentative and not ready for prime-time and the Kumbaya reach across the aisle to Tom Tancredo, Kyle and company drivel is really not what we need right now if we are going to end the war,

Obama may be "Kumbaya" to you but you're "Rambo" fantasies are just as naive.

"if Democrats put together 41 Senate votes for a filibuster or - perhaps even easier - if Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid or House Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to bring a blank check war funding bill to the floors of their respective chambers, Democrats would be able to ultimately stop the war. But while the Democrats' rhetoric is certainly different than Republicans, their actions really are not. The only thing they have consistently done when it comes to Iraq is try to pass the buck, and worse, successfully pass blank checks"

The Democrats are being held hostage by a Republican minority and an unpopular failed president because they allow themselves to be. They are petrified to do something that might make them 'look weak on defense' or might be spun in a negative fashion by the media. In the mean time people pay with there lives because a politician is concerned about how his vote might imapct his/her career ambitions. Time to stand up for your convictions.

    Can Vegas be far behind?

All the powers that be see a route coming no matter how inept the Dem's are.  BushCo. and Rove truly screwed the GOP over.

The Book of Revelation is not a foreign policy manual.
