Americans Call “BS” on Iraq Report - and Petraeus

Wed Sep 05, 2007 at 12:12:14 PM PDT

Here that noise?  America’s bull shit detector is blaring!

According to a Rasmussen poll released today, only 39% of Americans expect the Magical September report will "honestly and accurately" reflect reality in Iraq.

And this comes from people who still think the report is coming from General Petraeus, not the White House!  So much for the White House’s brilliant plan of stealing credibility by writing the report under the general’s name.  Only 39% of Americans think Petraeus will tell the truth.

By the way, Rasmussen today puts the president’s approval rating at 36%. What’s that tell you?  Essentially, if you’re not already in the president’s camp, you’re not buying a word of this bull shit report.

I look at this poll – and I wonder why anyone on this site is still afraid to have General Petraeus testify on September 11.  I think it’s a gift.  That date doesn’t belong to the Republicans anymore.  This isn’t 2004.  The American people look at the anniversary of 9/11 and think: "Another year without progress.  Another year of incompetence."

Let General Petraeus sit there before Congress on 9/11 and talk about Iraq.  Bring ‘im on.  It won’t boost our resolve to fight in Iraq; it’ll remind us just how far (and how long) we’ve gone astray.

Remember in 2004, Iraq had only been going on for two years.  Now we’re in year five.  Three more years is long time in war.  That’s why the Democrats won in 2006.  We should not fear the date of 9/11.  It is a reminder of Republican failure.
