I know this isn't really a diary, but I have to say it.
It's 12:45am on New Year's and I am sitting in my office, writing this and watching C-Span.
Now that means I am one of the bigger geeks on the planet right now (other than my wife who went to bed at 10:00pm).
If that isn't pitiful enough, I am watching a tape of Michelle Obama giving a speech at the Mayfair Community Retirement Home in Grinnell Iowa
And I just decided that the #1 reason I want Barack Obama to win the primary and the general election is that I want Michelle Obama to become First Lady in Jan 2009.
If anything, she is a better speaker than Barack--Barack can sometimes get up in the clouds a little, but Michelle is razor-sharp and totally focused on the people. She tells his story with a clear conviction and a grounded tone that is unique. Being a relative newcomer to the national political scene, I think she comes across as genuine, but she is as calm and relaxed as someone who has been doing this for years. The contrast between her and Hillary is striking.
Quite frankly, even if Hillary is elected, I STILL want Michelle Obama to be First Lady!
She is tough, she is strong and she has a presence and a charisma that is incredibly powerful. With Michelle at his side, I am not sure Barack even needed Oprah.
