Here's hoping your holidays were as good as mine! (I'm sporting a new leather jacket and a book about political blogging!) And don't worry, we are just as committed to Drafting Scott Kleeb into the 2008 Nebraska Senate Race. In fact, I think we are even more committed.
As the new year begins I feel it is imperative that we begin to lay the ground work for the potential Scott Kleeb for Senate campaign. Recent interviews on local Fox outlets have shed light on what the future holds for the Democratic candidates in Nebraska.
It appears Tony Raimondo will be waiting "two weeks" for his decision and Scott will decide sometime this month according to recent reports.
The Draft Kleeb narrative from the beginning has been one of empowerment for the state of Nebraska. Something is terribly wrong when we feel our leaders are not representing our best interests. At a local, state, and federal level the people of Nebraska are demanding more from their elected officials but are too often choosing between the lesser of two evils. It is time to put a stop to that and revive Democracy in the state of Nebraska.
I can not do that without your help!
So many of you have already contributed your time, money, etc... to this cause and I want to begin by thanking you. As Scott said a few weeks ago, "This is our choice - and a choice we have to make together." This has truely been your campaign, and we should be proud of what we have accomplished. We are so close to achieving our goal - I feel it in my gut that change is just around the corner in our great state.
Let me give you a run down of what Draft Kleeb has accomplished this past year:
Over 30 news stories in Print, TV, Internet, and Radio (Mentioning Draft Kleeb)
Organized a successful online petition with hundreds of names
Set up an ActBlue page and raised nearly $1,400 (a modest amount but not bad for a Draft movement!)
A featured 700 word editorial in the Omaha World Herald (the states largest circulated newspaper)
Launched a succesful volunteer drive with numbers that currently stand at:
98 people have pledged...
...2,320 hours (290+ working days)
...$19,170.01 to date
Not to mention compiling an extensive issues page, a Scott Kleeb bio section, and a few spliced YouTube videos for your enjoyment.
We have achieved a lot but this campaign is not over by a long shot. Stay tuned over at DraftKleeb.com for more and more updates or click here to sign up for email updates.
Also, if you have to do so, please take the time to pledge your volunteer hours or donations to the potential Scott Kleeb for Senate campaign. I'm sure I sound like a broken record but we have to let Scott know that we have his back in what will be a tough race.
