"...We still commit murder because of greed and spite, jealousy, and we still visit all of our sins upon our children. We refuse to accept the responsibility for anything that we've done, like we did with the Cylons. We decided to play God, create life. And when that life turned against us, we comforted ourselves in the knowledge that it really wasn't our fault, not really. You cannot play God then wash your hands of the things that you've created. Sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide from the things that you've done anymore." - Adama

Is Mike Huckabee the Republican Party's "Nomad probe" or "Toaster"?
>>>"Who gave the evangelicals the "right to first refusal"?
We did. In 2000 and 2004 (and 1992) we needed those evangelicals to get over the hump. We've pandered to them, flattered them, pretended that those "social values" were more important than anything else. And when they found out that Conservatives are human too, that we cheat on our wives, get divorced, some of us more than once, they found us wanting. They were unhappy that some of us didn't rush to abandon science. They hated that some of us believed that government didn't have the right to tell women they had to carry fetuses to term. They even hated that some of us USED to believe that.

"I am Nomad. I am perfect. That which is imperfect must be sterilized."
Gotta watch out for those toasters. They'll come back to get you eventually. The Republicans have created a Monster. I love it.
For the past few weeks (since November) I've been listening to Rush Limbaugh, Greg Garrison (our local AM/FM morning conservative on WIBC) and other right wing talking heads say that Mr. Huckabee isn't a "true" conservative. They say he isn't electable. They say he's ignorant of the True Way. They would really, really like him to go away, so much so that their fall back position is now that Iowa doesn't mean anything. Hmmmm...
Victor Frankenstein, as I recall, ignored and wished his monster away until it came into his house and killed his lover. The US Army (Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Initiative), tried to mix demon and machine (Adam) into the ultimate soldier. Adam killed the Initiative. We gave Saddam Hussein the weapons he needed to fight Iran and when we decided to finally squash him, welll... Iraq was going to be easy, so the Republicans ignored the follow-up to the fall of Saddam. We thought that Usama bin Laden was just another country-hick Islamist and we gave him and his the weapons and training to fight the USSR. There was even a Rambo movie about that...
Monsters come in all shapes and sizes. I've been around long enough to know that the monsters we create don't go quietly. It's fun to watch Limbaugh and the rest of his Talent on Loan From Gawwwdddddd types trying to put a stake into this one.
Actions have consequences. I'm actually glad that the Evangelicals have decided to stand up to the Republican Party bigwigs. It's very, very interesting.
I'm not sure how wel Mike will do from this point forward. It may be that this is it, he's done. Maybe. It may be though that Mike is the thin tip of the wedge between the oft-married, druggy, moralizing, unfaithful and excitingly chunky and un-tanned Republican mouthpieces. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of people.
Go Mike! DRIVE that wedge in!
