Hillary hit the home run that the pundits were screaming for.
- Specifics about her work on health benefits for NH residents. That "changed" lives.
- Specifics about her work on health benefits for National Guard personnel over Pentagon objections. That "changed" lives.
- Specific demonstration of the political courage needed for change evidenced by the Clinton rescue of the disastrous Bush deficits.
- Specific recitation of a vote against the 2005 energy bill (unlike Obama) which included tax breaks for the oil companies.
- A female President would be....uh, change.
She was unruffled by any of the personality comparisons between her and Obama - not liked? Well, that's deeply hurting :) - and refused to elevate likability to an art form:
- In 2000, everyone wanted to have a beer with W. Nuff said. We're not voting for homecoming queen or king.
No serious leader can run on being liked. She knows that.
- The damn courage to utter the R word - "recession" - which most Americans feel and experience and politicians are avoiding. She know what's going on out there and it ain't pretty.
- Clear linkage of the economy and the environment - fight global warming through jobs and economic resurgence.
She demonstrated an unflappable confidence, competence - and - oh, yes - no anxiety or stress.
A real good night. Lots of examples of what she has done - and how that can be relied on to forecast a Clinton presidency.
Iowa was...well, yesterday. She's in undaunted fighting form and it showed tonight.
