I've been on Kos for about two years. This morning I witnesses some of the most disappointing conduct on here that I've ever seen, in the diary titled Edwards Just Lost My Support by Nebraska Outsider.
The diary is about how the diarist has decided not to support Edwards based on his position on the necessity of C-Sections whie he was a trial lawyer. The diarist wrote, according to all the rules about diaries, a perfectly appropriate diary, the entire substance of which was why he/she had come to his/her decision not to support Edwards.
But within five minutes, people who had clearly not read beyond the title of the post were commenting that it was a waste of time, and that the diarist, relatively new to posting diaries on Kos, should never have written anything in the first place.
I get that we disagree with each other on a thousand issues. I get that we're all extra PMSy because we support different candidates in the primary and that people are testy because of candidate diaries and people accusing one another of GOP tactics.
But come ON. Attacking new diarists simply for expressing their opinions? Isn't that what each and every one of us are a member of this community for? To share our opinions? Logical political debate?
Good God, I have more civil conversations with my anti-choice, Huckabee supporting acquaintances.
This isn't the first time I've seen something like this, but it certainly is the first time I can recall becoming physically sick to my stomach from people's cruel, unprovoked attacks on the diarist and commenters who simply came to express a point of view.
I don't know about all of you, but I'm getting really sick of this. Didn't we used to attack the current administration and its tyrannic crimes? Didn't we used to unite around party platforms like choice and health care and welfare?
I've never left a diary feeling as sad as I do right now.
