Actually, I'm curious what my fellow enlightened Kossacks have to say about this statement. I suppose this is more of an open thread than a declaration of opinion, but I've been wondering...how low a president can go when it comes to abuse of executive powers?
Was it Nixon, whose actions got him the boot?
Bush with wiretapping?
Maybe Bush again with AttorneyGate?
Someone else (if that's possible)?
I'm also curious as to whether or not there have been any instances where the courts have ruled in favor of a president's application of executive privilege, only to be rebuffed in the future by other judges, or simply by popular or academic opinion.
So...have at it. Who can we regard as the worst abuser of executive power? I'd love to hear what you all have to say.
