First, some ground rules.
WHAT THIS DIARY IS NOT: I'm not taking a side on the Kerry-Edwards-Obama thing. This is not a candidate diary. Please choose from the other 50 such diaries that have been published in the past half-hour to comment in if that's what you're looking for.
WHAT THIS DIARY IS: An attempt to increase people's knowledge about the political process and hopefully also to have an interesting conversation that will help me not think so much about the fact that I skipped lunch and my stomach is now adhered to the inside of my ribs with hungry-glue.
OK, now we can proceed.
So John Kerry did not endorse John Edwards, his former running mate, instead favoring Barack Obama.
Before that, Al Gore did not endorse Joe Lieberman, his former running mate, instead choosing Howard Dean.
And come to think about it, President George Bush has not and, I'm assuming, will not, endorse a GOP candidate -- for reasons which are probably triple-obvy for we Kossacks.
These are just the races I know about.
So is there some Unified Field Theory that I'm not aware of in political endorsements? When was the last time a politician endorsed his former running mate for president?
Any insight that you have to add to these and other questions is welcome like a plate of delicious barbecued chicken wings.
Damn, I shoulda eaten lunch.
