So what if it's named after an insurance company? There's no Conservative Field yet, at least not in the major leagues.
Peter Lewis, who built Progressive Insurance almost from scratch and still serves as Board Chairman has been a major donor to MoveOn.org, America Coming Together, the ACLU and the Democratic Party.
The deal is for $58 million over 16 years. Progressive Field had been named Jacobs Field after the then-owner of the Indians, Richard Jacobs.
The current Indians owner is Larry Dolan, an Ohio attorney whose son Matt (a Republican) represents the 98th District in the Ohio House of Representatives. The senior Dolan was a contributor to Mike DeWine's unsuccessful reelection campaign in 2006, so it seems safe to say that the ballpark's new name does not reflect the views of ownership.
